Published on April 17, 1865., this Boston Advertiser "Extra" news broadside announces the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, the search for John Wilkes Booth, and the swearing in of Andrew Johnson as President.

Includes information surrounding the events of Lincoln's assassination and selected dispatches announcing Lincoln's death. Declares that John Wilkes Booth is undoubtedly the murderer. Announces that the funeral will take place on Wednesday, April 19, 1865.

The Boston Daily Advertiser (est. March 1813) was the first daily newspaper in Boston, and for many years, the only daily paper in Boston.
