The Battle of Bunker Hill was one of the most important, pivotal battles in the Revolutionary War. While the British were able to capture Charlestown, they sustained heavy losses demonstrating to the American Patriots that they could stand their own against the British Army.
Throughout the 19th-century, the Battle of Bunker Hill remained one of the most iconic battles in American history. In 1890, a memorial of those soldiers who served and died for America was published in Boston. It includes numerous appendices of names, sermons preached at the anniversary celebration, and notes on the construction of the monument.
