Satin, with velvet-like letters and image promoting the Fifth War Loan.
This award banner given to businesses whose employees met their company’s quota for selling War Bonds. These banners were displayed proudly in storefronts and offices as part of the nationwide volunteer effort to fund the war.
Millions of Americans took part in the Treasury’s bond drives, and through eight War Loan campaigns more than $185 billion was raised. The Fifth War Loan—June 12 to July 8, 1944—was the largest, with a national goal of $16 billion and quotas set for states, counties, and individual companies.
