Massachusetts-Bay three-dollar note dated May 5, 1780, printed by Hall and Sellers in Philadelphia.
Issued during the Revolutionary War, it promises payment of three Spanish milled dollars by December 31, 1786, with interest at five percent annually.
Signed by Richard Cranch (1726–1811), a Massachusetts legislator and judge and the brother-in-law of John and Abigail Adams.
A circular cancellation hole passes through the note. Notes from this issue were commonly hole-cancelled upon redemption and were printed on paper watermarked “United States.”
Size: 3.625" x 2.75"
The note is enclosed in a 3" x 5" freestanding Lucite frame to protect the currency while allowing you to display it standing or flat. The two pieces of Lucite are held together with magnets, which makes it easy to remove the currency for a closer inspection or to frame in a different manner or to store.
The manufacturer claims UV protection, but I haven't seen any technical report, so recommend keeping them out of direct sunlight.
