Letter from General Omar N. Bradley to Paul Prince, dated February 26, 1965, written on “General of the Army” stationery.
In the letter, Bradley reiterates President Truman’s position that General MacArthur was relieved of command “because General MacArthur would not comply with orders sent out by the Commander-in-Chief.” Bradley goes on to explain the administration’s reasoning during the Korean War, specifically, that the United States would not risk widening the conflict by bombing Chinese territory, which would have been considered an act of war against Russia.
