The Philadelphia Bowl, showing the first signing of the Articles of Confederation in 1778, designed for Bailey Banks & Biddle Co. from etchings by Alan Price.
Made in England by Wedgwood.
On the rim of the bowl, "Proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants there of", the quote from Leviticus that is inscribed on the Liberty Bell.
Below the text are
colonial and city flags alternating with portraits of soldiers.
On the outside of the bowl, there are four buildings from 18th Century Philadelphia:
- Christ Church
- The Merchant's Exchange
- The State House
- Lemon Hill
