Thin 48-star flag that shows signs of wear, as you can see in the photos. With machine-sewn cotton canton and stripes. The stars, also made of cotton, are double-appliquéd using a zigzag machine stitch.

This would be a great flag to include with a display of WWII memorabilia, for example

Historical background

The 48-star flag was officially adopted in 1912 following the admission of New Mexico and Arizona to the Union. It remained the official flag through WWI, WWII, and the Korean War, until Alaska gained statehood in 1959, adding the 49th star.
