About the artist
George T. Morgan was born in Birmingham, England in 1845 and died in Philadelphia, in 1925
George T. Morgan studied art and engraving in his native England before moving to the United States to work at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia. He served as the assistant to Chief Engraver Charles Barber, and then took over the role in 1917 after Barber's death. Morgan created inaugural medals for four U.S. presidents and a number of American Indian peace medals.
