A finely woven silk souvenir produced by William H. Horstmann & Sons for the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia. One of the nation’s oldest textile firms, Horstmann began in 1815 and became well known for their silk work for both civilian and military use. Horstmann was the first in the United States to use the Jacquard loom for weaving patterns.
This piece features a beautifully rendered view of Independence Hall. Framed in a solid wood frame with ivory-toned accents.
