The New-England Courant — 1856 facsimile of 1723 issue

The New-England Courant — 1856 facsimile of 1723 issue

$150.00

I knew that the New-England Courant was one of the earliest independent newspapers in America. (It was the third paper in Boston, but didn’t have a printing license. It was published by James Franklin, older brother of Benjamin, and was highly critical of the smallpox inoculation during the smallpox epidemic in Boston. What I didn’t know is that at one point James signed the paper over to Ben to avoid further prosecution.
This facsimile of the February 4 - 11, 1723 issue of the paper was printed in 1856 on a press used by Benjamin Franklin.
