Our exclusive design with our rallying cry, "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of history," surrounding an image of an eagle, shield, the seal of the United States, Lady Liberty with pole and cap, canon and canon balls, a cornucopia with tobacco leaves, and sheaves of grain.
The shirt: Printed on a super soft 4.2 ounce t-shirt from Next Level that features a long flattering cut and a deep V. See size chart.
Based on the feedback from buyers, one of whom characterized it as more of a "feminine fit," you might want to order a size larger than you would if you were ordering a standard men's/unisex shirt.
Comes with a hang tag that includes a photo of the wood carving on which the illustration is based and information on the elements that make up the carving.
This shirt is also available in a super soft light blue poly-cotton shirt and antique denim poly-cotton shirt using dark blue ink and red stars, and a light red poly-cotton shirt using dark blue ink and white stars.
Care: We recommend that these tri-blend shirts be hung to dry rather than placed in the dryer. This will prolong their life and minimize pilling.
If you have never worn a high-quality poly-cotton shirt before, you’ll want to read this first.
The image is based on a wood carving in the collection of the Newport Historical Society in Newport, Rhode Island, where this carving is on display. The Society attributes the carving to Alexander Swasey (1820-1860), boat builder, and explains that it is made of mixed woods, paint, and gilt. It is used under license.
A full color version of the print can also be found on a magnet and a sticker. A mug is under development. Sign up for The History List Insider to be notified when these are available.
