- Original complimentary ticket to the dedication ceremonies of the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago celebrating the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' voyage.
Held on October 21, 1892, prior to the 1893 exposition, this event featured speeches, music, and presentations from prominent figures, including Vice President Levi P. Morton.
Features an elegant calligraphy and a “Complimentary” stamp, signifying VIP access. The ticket is personalized with the handwritten name “Mrs. J. Atwater Barnes.”
Signed by T.W. Palmer, President of the World’s Columbian Commission.
- Embroidered pure silk ribbon featuring the Women's Building behind a river with small boats and a bridge, "Machinery Hall" "Columbian Exposition Chicago 1893" inscribed in blue, orange, and gold.
Mounted on paper highlighting John Best & Co. (Paterson, N.J.) "American Art Weaving" printed 2 times on either side of a circular globe illustration.
It is very unusual to find these with the paper still attached.
