A reproduction of an important 1774 document, the “Solemn League and Covenant,” an agreement to boycott British goods.
Originally drafted in Boston in 1774, the "Solemn League and Covenant" was a formal agreement to boycott imported British goods in response to the Coercive Acts—punitive measures imposed by Great Britain and known to the colonists as the “Intolerable Acts.”
By signing the non-importation pledge, colonists not only vowed to stop purchasing British goods but also to avoid doing business with anyone who refused to uphold the boycott.
Dr. Joseph Warren chaired the committee that drafted the “Solemn League and Covenant” and is widely considered its primary author. Alongside Samuel Adams, Warren played a key role in shaping the document, which was issued by the Boston Committee of Correspondence and distributed to towns across Massachusetts. It was formally approved and published by the committee on June 5, 1774.
Reproduced for the Attleboro Historic Preservation Society in 2022.
Only six available.
Size: 30" x 10"
