On the night of April 18-19, 1775,

American patriot Paul Revere rode from Boston to Lexington, Massachusetts, to warn of approaching British troops. This ride, immortalized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, "Paul Revere's Ride," played a crucial role in the start of the American Revolutionary War.
