Our rallying cry, "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of history," surrounds a wood carving in the collection of the New Port Historical Society. The Society attributes the carving to Alexander Swasey (1820-1860), boat builder, and explains that it is made of mixed woods, paint, and gilt. The carving includes an eagle, shield, the seal of the United States, Lady Liberty with pole and cap, canon and canon balls, a cornucopia with tobacco leaves, and sheaves of grain.
The carving is in the collection of the Newport Historical Society in Newport, Rhode Island, where this carving is on display. It is used under license.
The magnet: The magnet is thin and flexible, and sized 3" H x 2.5" W.
This same design is also available as a sticker of the same size. This image will soon be available as a mug. Sign up for The History List Insider to be notified when this is available.

Every product that is made in America states that in the product description and includes the "Made in U.S.A." graphic. There are a relatively small number of items where we’ve not been able to find a manufacturing partner here in the States, but we continue to look.
