Our original design has the chain of states design with "We are one" in the middle, which was an image developed by Benjamin Franklin that was widely used during the Revolutionary War and after, including on currency. The links are labeled with the name of each of the original 13 colonies. The photo shows currency printed with this design by Hall & Sellers, a Philadelphia printing firm originally established by Benjamin Franklin. The currency is in the collection of the Museum of the American Revolution.
