Our original design includes Teddy Roosevelt and what has become to be called the "Man in the Arena" passage from his "Citizenship in a Republic" speech at the Sorbonne in Paris on April 23, 1910:
"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."
The print includes the full text as well as the date and location of the speech.

About the paper weight and printing process: Printed in the US on fine art grade 100% cotton rag, acid-free archival paper with archival inks.
About the frame: Made in America solid wood frame with your choice of two finishes: Mahogany and Speckled Maple.
We use a museum-grade, non-glare acrylic that offers UV-protection. (We do not frame these with a mat. It seems more authentic without a mat.)
Important note on the care of framed prints: Use a microfiber cloth or similar to remove dust and fingerprints. Do not use household cleaners on the frame or on the acrylic.
Order and shipping times for framed prints: Generally, new orders for framed prints may take approximately two weeks to ship. Any exceptions to this will be noted at the top of the listing.
March 24 update on shipping times: All back orders for both frame styles were shipped today. New orders will be shipped in approximately two weeks, and usually much sooner.

Flat-rate shipping: Regardless of the number of items you order, the shipping price for shirts, caps, unframed prints and posters, bracelets, lapel pins, pendants, and button packs is $5.95.
For hooded and crewneck sweatshirts, mugs, and blankets, the shipping cost is $8.95.
Our flat rate shipping means you can add two or more t-shirts, sweatshirts, or caps for no additional shipping charge.
Note that some large or heavy items may have an additional shipping charge, and when they do, that will be noted on the product page.
We try to ship orders within three business days of receiving them. This applies to in-stock items. Framed items or items requiring personalization may take up to two weeks longer.
We close for a week over Independence Day and Christmas. A notice will appear at the top of every page of the site in advance of this closure.
We ship most orders via USPS, so if the post office is closed, we won't be shipping orders that day.
If you need to receive your order by a certain date, such as to give as a gift or have for a trip, we recommend ordering at least two weeks in advance, especially if you are using USPS shipping.
If you're looking for reliable, on-time deliveries, we strongly suggest upgrading to "UPS 3 Business Day Select Shipping."
- When fulfillment takes longer, such as around the Christmas holidays, we'll put up an announcement in the site and will list recommended shipping deadlines below.
- If an item is out of stock, we will contact you.
- If one of your items is an advance order, that will be noted on the product page along with an estimate of when it will ship. If that estimated date changes, the product page will be updated.

Getting into the arena is super cool
I first came across this quote when I was in college and fell in love with it and found it truly inspiring. I bought this print to put into my classroom in the hopes of inspiring the next future history or great world leader as they sit in my room.
Each year I gave each of my 8th grade students a print out of The Man in the Arena section of Teddy Roosevelt's speech, so I was delighted to see the beautiful print you offer. I bought one to give to my grandson for his 15th birthday.
