Updated April 16, 2026: If you are interested in one of our flags—they're our original design and only available here—you'll want to place your order now while we still have a few.

In response to a question about the printing of the image, we used photos of original Centennial flags and included the many signs of age in those original flags. The color is faded and not uniform, there was some bleeding of the red on to the white, the lines weren’t perfectly straight, and there were some small tears.  We left all of those in to give it the character and gravitas of a historic flag.

— Lee Wright | Founder

Based on a historic flag created for the 1876 Centennial, five-pointed, rayed stars are arranged to read “1776” and “2026," with thirteen red and white stripes. The printed design of those flags from 1876 shows the wear and aging from the originals.

The flag is printed on nylon, and two are sewn back to back. The back of the flag is the same as the back of a regular sewn flag. In the case of this design, it means that the numbers are reversed, just as they would be on a flag with sewn or embroidered stars. (See the photos below for the front and the back of the flag.)

Includes the card pictured, which explains the historical background of the flag on one side and has a reproduction of an engraving of the grounds of the Centennial Exposition on the back.

Thanks to Marty Callahan for the photo of the local DAR Chapter with our flag at the Flag Day Monument in Batavia Illinois on April 11, 2026.

Made in America.

Size: 28" x 45.75". This is the same size as an actual Centennial flag and is slightly smaller than our 3' x 5' "1773" Boston Tea Party flag.

With two stainless steel grommets to attach to a flag pole.

Also available: 1776 - 2026 Historic American Garden Flag in a 12" x 18" size

Caring for your flag: All flags flown outside fade and fray over time. To prolong the life of your flag, bring it in in high winds and bad weather. To reduce the chance of fading, you can apply a UV protectant, such as 303.

To clean, the maker recommends spot cleaning with a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar. They do not recommend putting it in the washing machine or submerging the flag entirely in water.

Hardware: I purchased the 5' black metal pole shown mounted on my house in September 2024 and it's held up well, as have the rotating mounting rings that came with it. I purchased mine from Amazon, but I see that the set is available elsewhere, too. To reduce wrapping, I spray the rotating rings with a "dry lube" spray once or twice a year.

Historical background: Jeff Bridgman has an excellent explanation of the "1776 - 1876" flag on which our design is based.
