Considered at the first travel guidebook of national importance at the time.

Richards placed an emphasis on mining towns, camps, and diggings as well as scenic views in California. In addition to all the States and travel accommodations of baggage, hotels, tickets, and more, Richards also makes note of George Washington, American Revolution, hunting and fishing areas, slave populations, battlefields, conflict between free and slave states, and much more.

In condition, other than some scribbles on the inside front cover and inside back cover.

It's a fascinating trade guide to the regions covered on the approach to the turn of the 20th Century.  Think Let's Go—remember those?—but for 1880s Eastern US and Canada.
