Full title: Journals of the Military Expedition of Major General John Sullivan Against the Six Nations of Indians in 1779 with Records of Centennial Celebrations. Published in New Auburn New York by Knapp, Peck & Thomson Printers in 1887. First Edition. 579 pp

Prepared in 1885 pursuant to New York state laws to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1779 campaign, the book documents the Continental Army’s campaign against the British-allied Six Nations (Haudenosaunee) of the Iroquois Confederacy. Specifically, the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, and Mohawk. The campaign, ordered by George Washington, aimed to break the power of Iroquois groups allied with the British and resulted in the widespread destruction of settlements and resources.

The Oneida and Tuscarora were the two tribes of the Six Nations that sided with the colonists.

The book includes extensive, highly detailed journals, engraved portraits, including of John Sullivan, fold-out maps, and four maps that slip into pockets in the front and back of the book.

As shown in the photos, the interior pages are in excellent condition, the front and back bindings are loose, and there is a tear in one of the bound-in maps.
