Frosted glass inkwell created for the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, commemorating the 100th anniversary of American independence.
Embossed on one side with the text:
“PROCLAIM / 1776 / LIBERTY”
And on the reverse:
“PEACE AND / 1876 / GOODWILL”
The piece is shaped in the likeness of the Liberty Bell with the iconic cracked with a globe finial to top the cover.
