US Centennial Liberty Bell Milk Glass Small Platter — 1876
US Centennial Liberty Bell Milk Glass Small Platter — 1876
Updated on March 13: This has been sold.
An oval milk glass platter from the 1876 US Centennial Exposition, featuring a wide rim with a scalloped edge and integrated handles.
Along the upper rim of the platter, the text reads "100.YEARS.AGO," while the lower rim displays "John Hancock" in elegant script.
At the center, the Liberty Bell inscribed with "LIBERTY" on the front. On the left of the bell are the words: "1776 / DECLARATION," and on the right: "1876 / INDEPENDENCE."
The handles are adorned with molded curved log designs.
Note that there is some slight discoloration in a few areas, including below the front rim of the bell. I thought that that could be removed, but was unsuccessful.
It's a wonderful souvenir from the Centennial, bringing together so many elements.
Size: 13.5" x 9.5"
