Jacquard-Woven Coverlet — "1840"

Jacquard-woven coverlet in red and cream, featuring an ornate central medallion surrounded by scrolling floral and foliate designs.

The field is densely filled with flowers, vines, and decorative elements, framed by a wide border with classical motifs, including urns and stylized plant forms. Along the edge, woven directly into the design, is the date:

“1840.”

Finished with a clean edge (no fringe visible). The design is fully reversible, typical of jacquard weaving, with the pattern appearing in inverse on the reverse side. By weaving "1840" in in both directions, one "reads" correctly for each side.
