Jacquard-woven coverlet in red and cream, featuring a dense floral field framed by a border of early American imagery including eagles, buildings, stars, and decorative motifs associated with the founding era.

In the lower corner, woven directly into the design, is the inscription:

“AMERICA INDEPENDENCE DECLARED, JULY 4, 1776.”

The text is woven in, not printed.

Finished with fringe along the sides and bottom; no fringe along the top.
