Eisenhower Draft Given National Tint
Supporters Broaden League Movement
NEW YORK, Nov. 11 ー A reorganization of the Draft Eisenhower for President League under the new name of National Draft Eisenhower League was announced here today in a statement by a group of men who headed the old organization's New York State branch.
The statement said that a national chairman and other national and regional officers for the new group would be named soon and that incorporation papers would be filed in Delaware.
"This new national league supplants the former Draft Eisenhower for President League of Washington, which is being merged with the new national league," the statement said, "It was agreed by the original incorporators of the old league, due to pressure of personal business, that the new National Draft Eisenhower League would take over all activities."
SENTIMENT INCREASES
Maurice Mumford, president of the United States Supply Company of Washington, an import export firm, had been acting president of the old league.
"The ground-swell of sentiment for Eisenhower for President is too great to be ignored," the statement added. "It is the intention of the new national league to coordinate this sentiment."
Winston H. Thornburg, John S Dickerson, Antonio Ponvert and George Converse, all of whom had been New York state officers in the previous organization, are the new incorporators and members of the board of directors. Listed with them were Torrey Stearns, of New York City, and William H. Burnham, of West Hartford, Conn.
National headquarters will be in the Hotel Astor, New York City.
