Originally written by Father Hugh Pope, the manuscript was revised and expanded after his death in 1946 to include modern editions and lesser-known private versions.
It includes a comprehensive account of both Catholic and non-Catholic translations, bibliographic notes, and detailed context in the evolution of the English Bible.
About the Author
Henry Vincent Pope, better known as Fr. Hugh Pope, was an English Dominican biblical scholar, Professor of New Testament Exegesis at the Pontificium Collegium Internationale Angelicum, the future Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, Angelicum in Rome.
