The White House Years covers 1969–1973: Kissinger’s first four years as National Security Advisor (and Nixon’s closest foreign-policy adviser) during Nixon’s first term. It includes the opening to China, SALT talks, the Jordan crisis, the 1971 India-Pakistan war, the 1972 Moscow and Beijing summits, and the Vietnam negotiations through the 1973 Paris accords. In two volumes: Vol I pages 1 - 732 and Vol. II pages 733 - 1521.

Years of Upheaval covers Nixon’s second term, January 1973–August 1974. It opens with Kissinger’s appointment as Secretary of State (September 1973) and focuses on Watergate’s impact on foreign policy, the 1973 October War and oil crisis, shuttle diplomacy, détente controversies, the fall of Allende, and Nixon’s resignation.
