Full title: The Papers of John Hancock, Volume 1: 1754–1769, edited by Jeffrey M. Griffith. Published in Boston by The Colonial Society of Massachusetts in 2026 and distributed by the University of Virginia Press. 744 pages.

A collection John Hancock’s surviving papers from 1754 to 1769, covering his early business career, his time in London, his correspondence with family and associates, and the rising political tensions in Boston before the American Revolution.

Include sections on Hancock’s business dealings, the Stamp Act, non-importation agreements, British troops arriving in Boston, and a “Year of Trials” in 1769.

Bound in black cloth with gilt lettering on the spine and gilt Colonial Society seal on the front cover and Illustrated with a color portrait frontispiece of John Hancock.
