A word-for-word report of the famous court test of the Tennessee Anti-Evolution Act, held in Dayton, Tennessee, July 10 to 21, 1925. The case, The State of Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes, became known as the Scopes “Monkey Trial” and remains one of the best-known American courtroom battles over education, religion, science, and freedom of thought.

Includes the speeches and arguments of the attorneys, testimony of noted experts, and William Jennings Bryan’s last speech. It opens with a photograph of the Rhea County Court House in Dayton, Tennessee.

Includes a publisher’s note states that the book presents the case from the court record “as it was made from day to day,” with the transcript copy supplied through the Chattanooga Times.
