Full title: Interesting Events in the History of the United States: Being a Selection of the Most Important and Interesting Events which Have Transpired Since the Discovery of this Country to the Present Time, by John Warner Barber. Published in New Haven by Barber in 1832. 312 pp.
As you can see in the photos, ours is in good condition. The photos also show the entire index. Events covered range from the very early, such as the expeditions of Ferdinand de Soto and M. de la Salle, and include the major events in our nation’s history up to that time, such as the Stamp Act, Massacre in Boston, Destruction of Tea in Boston, and the First Continental Congress.
It’s interesting to note some of the entries, such as "Indian cunning and sagacity.” Others were events that were so important in their day that they merited their own entry in the Index, but are unfamiliar—to me, at least—today, such as "Bacon's Insurrection in Virginia” or "Murder of Mrs. and Mr. Cauldwell.” Also includes biographical sketches, and the text of the Declaration, Constitution, and Washington's Farewell Address.
With a colored map of the US at that time, including "Arkansaw Territory" and "Michigan Territory." Illustrations of major historical events throughout.
