Washington Monument Fundraising Certificate — 1850 — With donor's name and amount — Framed

Washington Monument Fundraising Certificate — 1850 — With donor's name and amount — Framed

$1,995.00

In 1833, the Washington National Monument Society took charge of creating a memorial to George Washington on the National Mall. They raised money through public donations and awarded the design contract to architect Robert Mills.

The large certificate we have was given to a man who made a donation of $5 to the effort. I’ve not found another certificate like ours, one that has a place to list the name of the donor and the amount they’ve donated.

In good condition, framed in a solid wood antique frame with museum-grade, UV-protecting non-glare acrylic to guard against fading.

(Note: Photos was taken before the acrylic was installed.)
