Our print is in very good condition and shows Lincoln's first reading of the proclamation to his cabinet, which took place on July 22, 1862. Depicted, from left to right are Edwin M. Stanton, Secretary of War, Salmon P. Chase, Secretary of the Treasury, President Lincoln, Gideon Welles, Secretary of the Navy, Caleb B. Smith, Secretary of the Interior, William H. Seward, Secretary of State, Montgomery Blair, Postmaster General, and Edward Bates, Attorney General.

The Emancipation Proclamation was issued on September 22, 1862 and went into effect on January 1, 1863.

This print is matted and I’ve chosen a more modern frame than we usually use. As with all of the very high quality prints we frame, we’re using the very high quality UV-protecting, non glare acrylic.
