Envelope signed by Major James Harold Doolittle — Framed

Envelope signed by Major James "Jimmy" Harold Doolittle, dated and postmarked "October 31, 1931, San Angelo, Texas."  (I have no idea why his name is spelled "Dolittle" in the printed text.)

The envelope is addressed to Donald E. Dickason, Wooster, Ohio, a past president of the American Air Mail Society. 

Doolittle led the famous WWII strike against Japan in 1942 off the Carrier Hornet using Army Air Cops B-25 aircraft. For this raid he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Doolittle held a Doctorate from MIT in Aeronautics and was involved in the 1930s in aircraft improvements and design. He held the world land plane speed record in 1932. Won the 1925 Schneider Trophy Race; won the 1932 Thompson Trophy Race; won the 1931 Bendix Trophy Race.

Regarding the date and addressee, I found this in my research, though don't know if the two are connected:

"The original "Airpost Journal" was first published on November 1929 as an independent venture of Holcomb York, owner of the Berkshire Exchange. It was used as a supplement to Berkshire's "Standard Airpost Catalogue" (aka The Berkshire Catalog). On September 24, 1931 the Airpost Journal was acquired by the American Air Mail Society, headed by president, Herbert H Griffin. With George D. Kingdom as editor-in-chief, it's October 1931 issue (Vol II, No 6, Issue 18) became the AAMS's first issue and AAMS's official monthly aero-philatelic publication. It was distributed to each AAMS member with the cost of publication included in member's annual dues."
